Temporary Conductor Paul Dewhurst
John Griffiths was the conductor from 1994 until the end of 2011. John has taken the choir from strength to strength and under his leadership the choir has performed a wide variety of music including Rutter, Abba, Queen, Handel, Haydn and the Beatles.
Paul Dewhurst is conducting for the programme for the Spring and Summer Concerts. He has a masters degree in English Church Music. He is an organist and singer as well as a conductor. He moved from London to Yorkshire in 2006. He is currently Organist and Director of Music at Pontefract Parish Church as well as conducting the Pontefract Choral Society and other choirs across Yorkshire.
Accompanist Claire Burden
Claire Burden became the Society’s Accompanist in 2007. She studied Music Performance at Huddersfield University, majoring in the organ. She is organist at Brotherton and Ferrybridge churches and is a private music tutor. She also accompanies Castleford Male Voice Choir.
